The Thames Youth Centre is situated in Thames, New Zealand and has been in operation for 20+ years and has had a number of incarnations.
Currently the centre is a stand alone Youth Centre for young people aged 12-24
The centre is not connected to a church, or a health provider. We are an independent charitable organiation and much of the work at the centre relies on donated volunteer time.
We provide an independent social, arts and recreational space for young people.
We aim to address the needs of young people by facilitating a number of programmes that encourage youth participation - see our Programmes page for details.
We strive to to enhance community participation and showcase the talents and ability of youth. To achieve this the Thames Youth Centre is involved in youth leadership development, advocacy work, and we encourage other youth focused organisations to be involved with, and utilise the Thames Youth Centre space.
The committee has been reinventing the space as a response from local youth. The committee is made up of a number of community volunteers, some of whom work with youth in a professional capacity and others whom have a passionate desire to increase participation and outcome for youth within the Thames Community.
Thames Youth Centre is open weekdays from 9am-5pm
The centre coordinator is available to contact Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm, however during the day is often out in both schools and the community. If the centre is unattended during the day, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 078686110 and leave a message and she will get back to you as soon as she is back in the centre.
